“It makes no sense to continue” – Top insider hints Chelsea man could leave this week despite strange squad situation

We’re already 22 days through January and Chelsea have yet to make a signing or a permanent sale. Fabrizio Romano doesn’t think this quiet period will last long though.

In his exclusive Debrief session on Caughtoffside this week he claimed he expected this to be a “busy week” for Chelsea on the Armando Broja front:

“I think [concrete transfer news this week] is a possibility – it’s going to be a busy week for Armando Broja. He’s almost never playing and Mauricio Pochettino recently said he needs to be regularly playing. It makes no sense to continue like this.

“There is historical interest from West Ham, and Wolves could be another possibility. There could be movement in the next days.”

He’s our senior striker available and is finally getting the run of games in the teams that he needs. But the links to a transfer away have only intensified even as he reaches this crucial point.

Tomorrow night’s lineup will tell us quite a bit. All logic points to Broja starting, and even if he does that’s no guarantee of any long term future.

If he doesn’t get a start as our only fit striker in a game we need to win, it’s without question the end of the line for him at Chelsea, and Romano’s “busy week” will be in full swing.
