KONFUSION (system – Sue Smith, January)
Sue Smith has an excellent record in the month of January, scoring with 64 of her 272 runners since 2010 (prior to yesterday’s racing) for a profit of £153.07 to a £1 level stake at SP. KONFUSION trailed home 23 lengths behind the winner when ninth of 14 at Newcastle earlier this month but clearly didn’t appreciate the very soft conditions. The six-year-old placed in his two other starts, both on good ground, and could make the frame at a nice price in this novices’ hurdle.

SEASIDE LEGEND (system – Harry Derham stable switchers)
Harry Derham has a fantastic record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 16 of the 37 qualifiers for a profit of £62.16 to the usual £1 stake (expected wins = 7.31, A/E = 2.19). SEASIDE LEGEND, ex-Paul Nicholls, ran poorly in a Polytrack bumper last time but raced keenly under a prominent ride in a 2m contest dominated by hold-up horses and will be happier back on turf now making his hurdles debut.
