The striker has a thigh problem

Poland manager Michal Probierz says he’s still not sure if Robert Lewandowski will return from a thigh injury against Austria on Friday at Euro 2024.

Lewandowski picked up a problem just before the tournament and missed the team’s first game against the Netherlands.

The Barcelona star had been expected to return in their second game, but Probierz says he’s still not sure if he’ll be fit.

“There is a big difference if you have best player in the world on the bench or you have him on the pitch,” he told reporters. “We will make a decision later today.

“I hope the decision is positive and I hope I can select him tomorrow. We still don’t know. They are warming up now. I am waiting for the medical team to take the decision.”

The game between Poland and Austria is a must-win for both sides after defeats in their opening matches, and Probierz will be eager to have his star man available.
