England, Netherlands Win But De Bruyne Suffers Defeat

The Euros continued on Sunday and England took to the stage in the evening match. Before that, Nathan Ake’s Netherlands faced a difficult match against Poland, who took the lead in the 16th minute. However, Ake provided the assist in the 29th minute for Liverpool star Cody Gakpo to level. Wout Weghorst scored the winner for the Netherlands in the 83rd minute before Ake was withdrawn four minutes later.

Ake’s side face a tricky match on Friday as they face France, who beat Austria 1-0 on Monday evening.

Phil Foden, John Stones and Kyle Walker all started for England as they faced Serbia in their opening Group C match. Jude Bellingham put England ahead in the 13th minute, but the Three Lions struggled to break down the Serbs. Serbia had chances to level but England held firm for an unconvincing win.

In the other Group C match, Denmark and Slovenia played out a 1-1 draw, leaving England top of the table.

In the next round, England face Denmark on Thursday afternoon while Serbia face off against Slovenia.

Kevin de Bruyne’s Belgium played their first match of the tournament and suffered a shock 1-0 defeat. A goal in the 7th minute was enough to condemn the Red Devils to defeat, although Romelu Lukaku had two goals disallowed. The former Chelsea, Everton and United man was ruled offside for the first, then a dubious handball in the build up saw Lukaku’s second goal disallowed.

On Tuesday, Portugal make their first appearance as they face the Czech Republic. Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva will be hoping to make the first team, and former Blue Joao Cancelo may feature in defence.
