Wolves captain Ruben Neves joins Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal

One more Premier League player travels to Saudi Arabia! The most recent addition to the Saudi Arabian League is Ruben Neves, as the Portuguese international has reached an agreement with Al Hilal in a lucrative £47 million transfer.

Amidst ongoing transfer window speculations linking Ruben Neves with Spanish powerhouse Barcelona, a significant turn of events occurred when a substantial amount was offered to him. Despite being only 26 years old with plenty of footballing years ahead, the decision to join the “retirement league” in Europe is a significant move.

Ruben Neves has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders, showcasing his talent in 253 games for Wolves and scoring 30 goals. However, his impact on the field goes beyond mere goal statistics, as the Portuguese player has consistently caught the eye with his performances.

Neves had a year left in his contract and selling him this season seems to be one business decision by Wolves. Julen Lopetegui wants to strengthen his squad and needs funds to do so. Wolves regard this as an excellent deal which will help the manager get hold of quality players.

Ruben Neves was brilliant in his time with the club since his arrival in 2017 from Porto. He helped them win the Championship and followed the success at Monileux after helping his team to two seventh-placed finish in his tenure. He also helped the club reach the quarter-finals of the 2020 Europa League where they eventually lost to Lopetegui’s Sevilla.

Neves is not the last Premier League player to leave for Saudi. Saudi Arabia will soon be called as Premier League’s B or it already is with big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, N’golo Kante, and now Ruben Neves joining the league. Reports say that many Chelsea players like Koulibaly and Aubameyang too will join this Asian league.
